UPDATE: Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Socialist Party MP Shafiqur Rahman Burk has been charged with sedition in connection with the Taliban's fight for India's independence movement.
Responding to a question by reporters about the Taliban's occupation of Afghanistan, Shafiqur Rahman, a Sambhal Lok Sabha MP, said, “When India came under British rule, the whole country was fighting for independence. He too wants to be independent. This is their private issue How can we put a nose in it? ' He said.
Afghans want to lead their nation in their own way. The Taliban have stepped in to liberate their country and this is an internal issue of Afghanistan, ”Shafiq said.
The MPs have complained about the Taliban being compared to India's freedom fighters. "FIR has been filed under Shafiq under Section 124A, 154A and 295 IPC. A case has been registered against two persons who made similar statements in a Facebook video, ”said a police officer in charge of Sambal.
